WB’s Sohan Rey, Karnataka’s Yuvanesh lead Chess Championship

Kanpur: West Bengal’s Candidate Master Sohan Rey and Yuvanesh A of Karnataka are jointly leading with 4.5 points after the fifth round in the Under-17 boys’ category of the 7th ICSE All India Chess Championship 2026 being played at Sheiling House School, Allen Ganj, on Friday.As many as eight players, including Mohd Hasnan, are jointly placed second with four points. They are Sri Hari (Kerala), Guhan N H (Karnataka), Shaurya Swapnil (Maharashtra), Parambrata Sarkar (North East), Aulikik Sinha (Maharashtra), R H Revlin Ram (Tamil Nadu), and Sparsh Bisht (Uttarakhand).In the Under-17 girls’ section, Stuti Pradeep of Karnataka is leading with five points, while Bhumica Bal of West Bengal is second with 4.5 points.Nanamau Himisha (Andhra Pradesh), Priya Keswani (Maharashtra), Antreyee Das (West Bengal), Kakara Isha (Andhra Pradesh), Mahati Ram Kumar (Maharashtra), Janhvi M S (Karnataka) and Rizwana S (Kerala) are jointly third with four points each.In the Under-14 boys’ category, Arohan Dey (West Bengal) is leading with five points, followed by Kiyan Kawalkar Kumar Patel (North West) with 4.5 points. Akshat Kumar (Andhra Pradesh), Jason Jubjelin (Tamil Nadu), Samarth N Nayadu (Karnataka), Eric Sanish (Kerala), Anirban Sahu (West Bengal) and Spandan Debnath (West Bengal) have four points each.In the Under-14 girls’ section, Mahu Vignesh (Maharashtra) is leading with five points, while Ashwini A Agarwal (Maharashtra) is second with 4.5 points. L R Joseph (Karnataka), Adya Rangnathan (Karnataka), Monali Bishwas (Bihar), Adwitiya (West Bengal) and Alagu Sudiksha (Tamil Nadu) have four points each.In the Under-19 boys’ category, Mehul S U (Tamil Nadu) is leading with 4.5 points. Players with four points include Devanjan Sinha (Bihar), Rudrasheesh Som (West Bengal), Sparsh Yogesh Batra (Maharashtra), Vikrant Krishna Kumar (Karnataka), Saptanshu Malakar (West Bengal), Ronit Rajesh Motwani (Maharashtra) and Deepak G P (Tamil Nadu).In the Under-19 girls’ category, Vipashyana Upadhyaya (North East), Rahini Das (West Bengal) and Arya Srikant Nayak (Maharashtra) are on 4.5 points. Players with four points include Avalin Kaur (North India), Vaishnavi (North India), Ayana H Nair (Kerala), Ishita Malhan (Uttarakhand), Riya Banekar (North West) and Akshara Ajesh (Kerala).
